Virat Kohli Returns in Style; Slams Majestic Fifty in Tricky Run-Chase

Kohli scored his 66th fifty in ODIs [Twitter]

Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Man. After a two-game ODI break, Virat Kohli has returned in some style. The dashing batter has slammed a majestic fifty, that has kept India in a tricky run-chase.

This was Kohli's 66th half-century in ODI cricket, and it has come against one of his favourite opposition in white-ball cricket.

Kohli came into bat after the fall of Washington Sundar, who was surprisingly promoted at the top of the order. With Rohit Sharma at the end, Kohli had an able partner as the duo took the attack to the Australian attack.

The 'chase master' started with a couple of singles, but once he got settled in, there was no looking back as he found boundaries at the right moment. With spinner, Tanvir Sangha operating at one end, Kohli made sure that the scoreboard kept ticking. The highlight of the innings was the six down the ground to Mitchell Starc, which announced his intentions.

The right-handed batter notched up a brilliant fifty, with a six straight down the ground, but this time against Cameron Green.

Chasing a mammoth 353, India are 3 down at the moment. After bringing up his fifty, Kohli eventually faltered against Maxwell, and was sent back for 56.
