Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis have been a prolific opening pair this IPL season, and they continue the good work against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Chasing a tricky 187 in a must-win game, both the batters came out all guns blazing and have slammed their respective half-centuries to keep their side in the hunt.

Kohli and Faf du Plessis made their intentions clear right from the first over, when Kohli smacked Bhuvneshwar Kumar for back-to-back boundaries. The former RCB captain didn’t stop there and took a special liking towards part-time spinner, Abhishek Sharma in the next over as the chase was up and running.

Interestingly, in the initial few overs, Kohli was the chief aggressor while Faf settled into the game nicely. But once the dust settled in, the RCB skipper joined the fun as the boundary floodgates opened.

The duo smashed Kartik Tyagi for 18 in his first over as Aiden Markram looked clueless. Kohli was resounding against the spin, something which he has failed to do this season post the power-play.

However, there was a controversial call involving Faf du Plessis. Faf miscued a Nitish Reddy delivery towards the deep mid wicket region, and the catch was taken. But the replays suggested that it was the second short ball of the over and the original decision was overturned.

Eventually, both the batters reached their respective half-centuries.

At the time of writing, RCB are well within the chase. At the end of the 14 over mark, they are 132 for the loss of no wickets.
