UAE blanked Oman in Abu Dhabi to register their opening points of the 2025 Asia Cup. Openers Alishan Sharafu and Muhammad Waseem led UAE’s early dominance with the bat before bowlers Junaid Siddique and Haider Ali ran through Oman’s batting line-up.

Sharafu, Captain Waseem 50s Fuel UAE Up To 172
Getting invited to bat first, UAE openers Alishan Sharafu and captain Muhammad Waseem staged together an attacking 88-run partnership in 11 overs. Sharafu initiated the early aggression by cracking 51 off those runs from just 38 balls with seven boundaries and a six before he got cleaned up by Jiten Ramanandi. Waseem marched on and nearly batted through the innings, top-scoring with a swift 69 off 54 balls.
Muhammad Zohaib (21 off 13) and unbeaten Harshit Kaushik (19* off 8) unleashed blistering cameos in the slog overs as UAE formed 172-5 in 20 overs. For Oman, fast bowler Ramanandi also dismissed Zohaib at the death to claim tight figures of 2-24. Additionally, Hassnain Shah (1-34) and Samay Shrivastava (1-38) chipped in with a wicket each, albeit in their expensive four-over spells.
Siddique, Haider Ali Skittle Oman To Orchestrate Big UAE Win
Oman lost opener Aamir Kaleem to Junaid Siddique for just two in the first over of the run-chase. Siddique also got rid of Oman captain Jatinder Singh in his following over, before Muhammad Rohid (1-16) and Haider Ali (2-22) ran through their middle order with three quick wickets between them.
Muhammad Jawadullah further plunged Oman to inescapable despair with two wickets to claim figures of 2-18 from his three overs. Junaid Siddique cleaned up Oman’s tail with two additional wickets to unfurl the spell of the match with figures of 4-23. Muhammad Waseem delivered the knockout blow with a runout to fold up Oman for just 130 in 18.4 overs as UAE secured a 42-run win in match seven of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup.
