A lot of drama unfolded following India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match as the Men in Blue refused to shake hands with Salman Agha and his men, which led to a massive row. The PCB were unhappy with the incident as Team India shut the dressing room doors while the Pakistan team waited outside the dressing room.
PCB Unhappy Over Handshake Saga
Several cricket pundits from Pakistan slammed India for their gesture and also raised doubts over spirit of the game. According to the reports, it mentioned that the PCB has also filed an official complaint to the ACC, asking an action against India for violating the spirit of the game.
Not only that, but the Mohsin Naqvi-led board has also demanded an action against Match referee Andy Pycroft as he had requested both teams to not shake hands during the toss. Notably, the board has requested for te referee to be removed from Asia Cup and have threatened to boycott their match against UAE.
PCB Suspends Director Of Cricket
Further, in the latest events, the PCB has also taken an action internally as they have reportedly suspended their director of cricket operations Usman Wahla, for failing to control the situation during the Handshake row.
According to report from News18, Naqvi held an internal review, which concluded that Wahla failed to manage the issue effectively. The board expected more from Wahla and were left disappointed after he failed to uphold Pakistan's dignity in front of India. The PCB believes that he should have ‘flagged’ and resolved the matter before the match began.
The PCB is upset that the match referee had instructed before the toss about not shaking hands and yet the PCB director of cricket operations failed to control the situation.
