There is no stopping Tilak Varma as he continues to rise at number 3 for India in the game's shortest format. Asked to bat ahead of Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak has outshone everyone as the southpaw took the Proteas attack to the cleaners in the 4th T20I.
Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson gave a fiery start to the Indian side as the duo added 73 runs for the opening wicket. However, once Abhishek departed, Tilak joined the party and went toe-to-toe with Samson to determine the best hitter of the innings.
In fact, Tilak went once step ahead and was the chief tormentor as Samson took the back seat for a while and watched Tilak toy with the bowlers as he reached his second successive T20I century. In the process, he became the second Indian after Samson to score back-to-back centuries in this format.
Samson achieved the feat when he slammed centuries Vs Bangladesh and South Africa, and Tilak did it against the Proteas in the last match, and now in the ongoing contest. He was at his aggressive best as the power-packed batter hammered 9 sixes in the onslaught and brought up his second T20I ton.
Samson also brings up his century
Not only Tilak, but Samson also brought ip his third T20I century and the second of this series. He scored a ton in the first match, and it was followed by back-to-back ducks. However, the RR opener redeemed himself and played some exquisite shots to bring up the milestone.
