This wasn't the best bowling performance from us: Temba Bavuma

South African white-ball skipper Temba Bavuma admitted that his famed bowling attack had a horror night in Guwahati on Sunday after the visitors succumbed to a series-losing 16-run defeat to hosts India in the 2nd T20I.

On a flat surface, the Proteas seam attack was taken to the cleaners by the likes of Suryakumar Yadav (61 off 22), KL Rahul (57 off 28) and Virat Kohli (49* off 28) as India racked up their 4th highest total (237/3) in their T20I history.

While Kagiso Rabada (0/57 in 4) Wayne Parnell (0/54 in 4) conceded 111 between them across 8 wicketless overs, Lungi Ngidi (0/49 in 4) and Anrich Nortje (0/41 in 3) weren't spared either.

Amid the carnage, left-arm orthodox Keshav Maharaj (2/23 in 4) was the pick of the bowlers.

Here's what Temba Bavuma said-

"Yeah, look, this wasn't the best bowling performance from us. With the quality we have, we needed to execute it better. We have a good bowling setup and will try to do better next time. Yeah, we needed to start well, which didn't happen."

However, Bavuma was happy that his batting-unit gave a full crack at the improbable target.

That the Proteas came close to the total was thanks largely to a sensational knock from middle-order basher David Miller.

'Killer Miller' (106* off 47) unleashed a stunning assault on the helpless Indian attack and fittingly completed his hundred with a six in the final over.

Bavuma, who scored a 7-ball duck, was full of praise for Miller and also vowed that other batters will learn from their mistakes and come back strongly in the next game.

The 3rd T20I will take place in Indore on 4th October.
