Riding on Tanvir Islam's sensational five-wicket haul, Bangladesh swatted aside Sri Lanka by 16 runs in the second One-Day International of the ongoing three-match series. After posting a respectable 248-run total, the Tigers managed to defend the target successfully, with Tanvir Islam dismantling the hosts with a clinical spell.

Tanvir Islam Records Best Figures For Bangladesh Against Sri Lanka In ODIs

Left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam emerged as Bangladesh's most successful bowler, scalping five crucial wickets for 39 runs in his ten-over spell. Islam, who earlier dismissed Nishan Madushka, went on to bamboozle Kamindu Mendis, Kusal Mendis, Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana, completing his fifer in this process.

Thus, he became only the second Bangladesh bowler to register a five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in ODIs. His bowling figure of 5 for 39 is also the best-ever by a Bangladesh bowler against the Lankans.
