Besides rattling the Lankans with a superb spell, the left-arm spinner registered the best bowling figures by a Bangladesh bowler at the iconic venue.

Bangladesh's experienced spinner Taijul Islam played a pivotal role in bowling out the Sri Lankan side, scalping five wickets for 131 runs in the first innings.
Taijul, who earlied bagged the crucial wicket of Sri Lankan opener Lahiru Udara, went on to add four more scalps to his tally, getting rid of Pathum Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Tharindu Rathnayake and Asitha Fernando.
He brought up his seventeenth Test fifer and became the first-ever Bangladesh bowler to record a five-wicket haul at Sinhalese Sports Club. Thus, the experienced campaigner set the record for the best Test figures for his country at the venue.
