In an unfortunate turn of events, the high-voltage T20 World Cup face-off between Australia and Bangladesh has been interrupted due to rain. Chasing a modest 141-run total, Australia raced to 64 for none in 6.2 overs before rain played spoilsport.

However, as five overs have already been completed, the Duckworth-Lewis and Stern Method will be considered to determine the winner in case the game doesn't resume.

And to the delight of Australian fans, their team was ahead of the DLS par score of 35 by 29 runs when rain encountered. So, if play doesn't resume, Australia will be declared as the winners.

Earlier in the game, Australia reduced Bangladesh to a paltry 140-run total, thanks to a spectacular three-fer from Pat Cummins.

The ace speedster, who scalped the crucial wickets of Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan, became the first bowler to take a hattrick in this World Cup edition.

Hridoy was the most significant contributor for Bangladesh, scoring 40 runs off 28 deliveries. Adam Zampa was impressive with the ball for the Aussies, scalping two vital wickets in his four-over spell.

Update: Although play resumed and continued for quite a while, another passing shower interrupted the proceedings when Australia were 100 for two in 11.2 overs. With the DLS par score being 72 runs, the Aussies were declared winners as no further play was possible.
