Australia (AUS) will play against Afghanistan (AFG) in the eighth match of the Super Eights in T20 World Cup 2024. This match will be played at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown, St. Vincent, on June 23 at 6:00 AM IST.

Australia started their Super Eights from where they left in the group stage. They have won their first match and will be looking to pick up another convincing win to ensure their spot in the semis.

Afghanistan have stuttered in their last two games. They lost their last group stage game against West Indies and then faltered against India in the Super Eights. Rashid Khan and his men will remember the wound of the ODI World Cup 2023, where Glenn Maxwell played probably the best knock in the history of the World Cups to ensure the elimination of the Afghans. They will be looking to make a comeback and also avenge their defeat from that match.

Team Previews

Australia

Australia have played the most aggressive cricket in the tournament. They have dominated their opponents and have steamrolled them in their way so far.

Mitchell Marsh hopes that his boys will continue the momentum and win another game convincingly to solidify their claim to the semis. The form of David Warner in batting and that of Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa in bowling will give the leadership group and the management enough confidence to see through this match.

Australia will also hope that players like Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, and Josh Hazlewood regain their form in this match.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan played brilliant cricket in the group stages. Barring the last game against West Indies, the Afghans decimated the rest of their opponents and found their way into the Super Eights.

However, they did not start off well against India at this stage. They have lost that match by 47 runs and need a convincing win against Australia to keep themselves alive in the race to the top four. Although it seems a bit far-fetched that Afghanistan will overhaul Australia, if their spinners get a bit of help from the wicket, anything could be possible.

AUS vs AFG: Arnos Vale Stadium Pitch Report

The pitch at the Arnos Vale Stadium has been difficult for batting. The ball has not come onto the bat easily, and the batters have struggled with their shot-making. The spinners will get help from the wicket. As for the pacers, those who will bowl the hard length and look to use their cutters and slowers will reap benefits from the track.
