T20 World Cup 2022: Moments of the day

The first day of the Super 12 stage is over and we can say that the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 has officially begun. Two matches were held on the first day. 

 1st Match: Australia vs New Zealand

In the first match the defending champions and the hosts Australia took on New Zealand. New Zealand batted first in the match and courtesy of Devon Conway's 92 off 58 along with Jimmy Neesham's cameo posted a total of 200 runs in their 20 overs. 

The Australian's were not able to chase down the target and could only score 111 runs before being bowled out by a disciplined Kiwi attack.

2. Second match: England vs Afghanistan

In the second clash of the England and Afghanistan faced each other. England won the toss and opted to field first in the match. 

Sam Curran was the star with the ball for England as he took 5 for 10 in 3.4 overs. Afghanistan looked extra careful with their batting approach at the beginning and they had to pay the price for that. They were able to score only 112 runs for the loss of all of their wickets in 19.4 overs.

In the chase England lost 5 wickets but Liam Livingstone ensured that they reached the target by the beginning of the 19th over of the innings.
