After winning the first Test against Australia, the India U19 squad looks confident even in the second one. Day 1 of the second Youth Test between India U19 and Australia U19 seems to be in India's favour after stumps.

India skipper Ayush Mhatre led the team well, while bowlers Henil Patel and Khilan Patel starred in dismantling Australia on Day 1 itself. Let's take a look at how the match panned out.

Patel brothers script Australia's collapse

As Australia won the toss and chose to bat, they had a massive stumble early. The openers were lost within the first 5 overs, and by the 10th over, Australia's scorecard read 30 for 4 wickets. The only notable contribution from Australia’s side was from Alex Lee Young, who scored 66 runs off 108 balls.

That was the solo resistance alongside Yash Deshmukh, who scored 22 runs to push Australia's total to 135 at the end of 44 overs. The collapse of Australia’s side was orchestrated by Henil Patel and Khilan Patel, who scalped 3 wickets each. Udhav Mohan also bagged 2 wickets to script Australia’s fate in the first innings. Wrapping them up nearly by the mid-session of the day, India came in to bat.

India struggle to get the lead

However, India also saw a few early collapses, with Vihan Malhotra and Ayush Mhatre falling within the first 4 overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the RR star, also failed to score big, making only 20 runs off 14 balls.

Vedant Trivedi and Khilan Patel’s contributions were only remarkable, as they helped put India's total above Australia’s. Henil Patel and Deepesh Devendran will resume at the crease on Day 2, as India is 7 down for 144 runs at the end of 40 overs. India will start Day 2 with a lead of 9 runs.
