Pakistan created a large-scale drama on September 17 after arriving an hour late to the Dubai International Stadium for their Asia Cup 205 clash against the UAE. However, they instead faced humiliation after their demand against Andy Pycroft wasn’t met.
For context, PCB demanded the removal of ICC match referee Andy Pycroft as punishment for allegedly disallowing India and Pakistan players to shake hands on September 14.
However, after repeated requests were rejected by ICC, ACC and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi instructed his team to stay back at the team hotel and threatened a boycott the tournament.
Salman Agha Shakes Hands With Andy Pycroft At Toss
After an hour delay, Pakistan finally relented and arrived at the stadium for their Asia Cup 2025 clash against the UAE, which is indeed a do-or-die contest for their Super Four qualification.
However, Pakistan gained nothing from their standoff, as match referee Andy Pycroft executed his job formally at the toss proceedings, including shaking hands with Pakistan captain Salman Agha. The picture of Agha standing in the same frame as Pycroft invited incessant trolling on social media.
Fans claimed the men in green surrendered and created unnecessary drama for fame, as they failed to establish any statement during the standoff.

Meanwhile, in an official statement, PCB has claimed that Andy Pycroft apologised to Pakistan captain Salman Agha for his actions on September 14. He argued that it was a clear case of miscommunication.
Now PCB claims ICC has promised to conduct a detailed inquiry against Pycroft, but the international board has yet to issue any official statement on this matter.
So far, all the information is being shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board through their social media channels.
