Australian captain Steve Smith once again proved why he is one of the most respected cricketers in the game. During the Champions Trophy 2025 match against Afghanistan in Lahore on February 28, Smith showed true sportsmanship by withdrawing a run-out appeal against Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmed.
The incident happened on the last ball of the 47th over when Noor Ahmad stepped out of his crease, thinking the over was done. Australian wicketkeeper Josh Inglis quickly removed the bails and appealed for a run-out. However, in a remarkable display of fair play, Smith asked the umpire to cancel the appeal, allowing Noor to continue his innings.
