Australian star batter Steve Smith took his time to find his rhythm in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but he didn’t back down. In the 3rd Test between Australia and India at the Gabba in Brisbane, Smith, along with Travis Head, turned the game around with a sensational batting display against India's top bowlers.

After India chose to bowl first, the decision seemed to work in their favour as Australian wickets started falling early. However, Smith and Head stepped up when their team needed them the most. On Day 2, Steve Smith roared back to form with a brilliant century, leaving the Indian bowlers struggling to regain control.

The moment came in the 82nd over of Australia's first innings when the new ball was introduced, and India took it straight away. Akash Deep bowled the second delivery, and Smith smashed a four, bringing him to 99. It was a fabulous shot— a full ball outside the off-stump, and Smith, with his classic technique, perfectly timed the on-drive past mid-on for a boundary.

Then, in the very next over, Smith reached his 100. This was his 33rd Test century, and he reached it in 185 balls, after 25 innings without one. His achievement put him on par with the legendary Sir Alastair Cook for the most centuries in Test cricket.

The right-handed batter celebrated the milestone with a wave of his bat as the Gabba crowd gave him a standing ovation. He moved to 99 with that glorious straight drive, and the moment couldn’t have been more perfect.
