Sylhet Strikers will be taking on Durdanto Dhaka in Match 17 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 on Friday (February 2). As the second Sylhet leg of the league stage takes an interesting turn, the Strikers aim for supremacy over their Dhaka counterparts in an afternoon fixture.
Placed right at the bottom of the seven-team tournament standings, the Strikers are placed seventh with no win to show for their efforts after five matches. The Durdanto are eyeing their second victory in the competition after undergoing a disappointing three-match losing streak.

The home team Strikers need to pull their socks immediately as the door towards the playoffs starts closing on them. The Mashrafe Mortaza-led side has been in desperate search for some inspiration and revival in the middle, facing defeat after another over the past two weeks.
Their comprehensive eight-wicket loss at the hands of the Chattogram Challengers was Strikers' fifth consecutive defeat in the tournament. Another defeat to the Dhaka franchise will seal their fate in what has been a disastrous campaign so far.

The Dhaka franchise is also seeking the winning feel after having undergone a three-match losing streak since clinching a victory in their opening game versus the Comilla Victorians. After starting in high spirits, the Dhaka rivals have been pulled down to earth by their competitors.
It will have to change quickly if the Mosaddek Hossain-led side is to keep its playoff hopes intact, needing to win minimum five of their remaining seven matches of the league stage. A task that appears out of their reach at this point but a win over Strikers could provide a much-needed lift.
