SRH Vs GT Called Off; Relentless Rain Plays Spoilsport In Match 66 Of IPL 2024
Rain played spoilsport in SRH vs GT (BCCI)
After plenty of waits, Match No. 66 of IPL 2024 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans was abandoned without a ball being bowled following persistent rain at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
However, in the process, the Pat Cummins-led side became the third franchise, after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), to reach the playoffs.
At the same time, the result also meant the blockbuster fixture between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings, set to take place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18, is set to be a virtual knockout for the final place in the next round.
While Shubman Gill’s Gujarat had two back-to-back called-off games to finish the season, Cummins and his boys still have a game to play. They will face Punjab Kings on May 19 at the same venue. There, if they win, they will confirm their place among the top two, alongside Kolkata Knight Riders.
If that happens, KKR will face SRH at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 21 in Qualifier 1 of the ongoing edition.
