The Oval Invincibles played against the London Spirit in The Eliminator of The Women's Hundred 2024 at the Kennington Oval in London, United Kingdom. The London Spirit won the toss and put the Oval Invincibles into bat ahead of the game.

Capsey-Kapp put up the fight for the Invincibles

The Invincibles did not have the best of starts in the match. They lost their openers rather early and it could have led to a disastrous collapse for the team. However, the Alice Capsey (30 off 33) ad Marizanne Kapp (26 off 26) stabilised the ship for them and ensured that they did not crumble prematurely.

However, after the 45-run partnership between the duo the Invincibles suffered a collapse where they seven wickets for 31 runs. Due to this collapse, they could not finish their innings on a strong note and could only manage 113/9 at the end of their 100 balls.

Redmayne and Heather Knight steer the Spirit past the target

The Invincibles would have hoped for a similar bowling effort from their bowlers. The wickets of Meg Lanning and Cordelia Griffith in quick succession might have also given them a bit of hope of getting positive result from the game.

However, opener Georgia Redmayne played a brilliant knock of 53 runs from 47 balls and held one end together. She got the support of her skipper, Heather Knight who brought his experience into play and scored a steady 36 off 23. The duo stitched an unbeaten partnership of 74 runs and guided the Spirit to a eight wicket win with nine balls remaining in the game.

With this win the London Spirit Women eliminated the two time champions and found their way into the summit clash. They will now face the Welsh Fire Women in the final of the tournament. Notably, neither Spirit nor the Welsh Fire have won the title before. Thus The Hundred Women's will see a new team crowned as the champions.
