On Thursday, October 23, the India women locked horns against the New Zealand women in their sixth match of the ongoing Women's World Cup. It is a virtual knockout game for both teams as the winner will set foot in the semi-finals.

In the ongoing match, the Women in Blue, batting first, got off to the perfect start as Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal stitched a fifty-run opening stand. Besides the perfect start, Mandhana has also hogged the internet for personal reasons.

Smriti Mandhana goes past New Zealand counterpart

With an unbeaten 25-run knock, the southpaw became the leading run-getter in Women's ODIs by an opener. Mandhana surpassed New Zealand's Suzie Bates and took 20 innings fewer than her Kiwi counterpart.

Mandhana etched the feat to her name after she took her runs tally as opener to 5090 in just 113 innings, while Bates, who will be batting in the 2nd innings, has 5089 runs in 133 innings as opener. Here is the complete list.

Talking about Mandhana, she is having a great World Cup, as the southpaw has scored 248 runs and counting in six innings, averaging 49.60. Her feat in this edition includes two fifty-plus scores as well.

However, the opener has failed to convert her starts into big scores and is yet to score a century in this edition. Even in the match against England, Mandhana scored a eighty-runs knock but failed to stay until the end, which resulted in a win for the Three Lions.
