Rainy weather in Galle is expected to cause disruptions on the first day of Pakistan's tour of Sri Lanka in 2023 with percipitation chances. The two-match Test series, taking place in July for the second consecutive year, is at risk of being affected by adverse weather conditions.

Although it is currently not raining near the Galle International Cricket Stadium, the weather forecast for the opening day of the first Test suggests a possibility of rainfall, particularly in the evening.

Galle International Stadium Weather Report

Galle is set to experience a hot and humid day with cloudy skies, where temperatures will range from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius. However, the actual sensation may be even hotter than the predicted temperature.

AccuWeather forecasts a rain probability slightly above 40% for a considerable duration of the playing hours on Sunday. It is notable that the first two sessions of the day have a rain probability in the 30s.

Later in the day, after 04:00 PM local time, the rain probability is anticipated to rise into the 40s for the first time on Day 1. This suggests the need for players, fans, and particularly the ground staff to be prepared for a potential interruption during the evening session.

Due to the customary practice of fully covering the ground in Sri Lanka, it is unlikely that rain will cause substantial damage to the outfield.

Pitch Report

In the previous game at the Galle venue, Ireland chose to bat after winning the toss and scored 492 runs against Sri Lanka. In reply, Sri Lanka declared their first innings at 704/3 and ultimately won the match by an innings and 10 runs.

The Galle surface clearly favors spin bowlers, and teams usually prefer to bat first after winning the toss to avoid batting in the fourth innings. Batsmen can accumulate runs if they settle down, exhibit good technique, and display patience.
