India have started a new era in Test cricket under Shubman Gill, and they are now in the middle of an intense final Test of the five-match series against England at the Oval. At the start of the series, Gill talked about the importance of giving confidence to his players, and throughout the series, he has walked the talk with some bold decisions.
He has shown a lot of confidence in the decision-making ability of his players, and it was evident in the second session of Day 2 at the Oval as well. On the fourth ball of the 25th over, Mohammed Siraj bowled a sharp in-dipper to English captain, Ollie Pope. The ball hit the batter's pad, and Siraj, as usual, made a loud appeal. However, the umpire turned it down, and the general mood around was that the ball would miss the stumps due to its height or movement towards the leg side.
Siraj-Gill Combo Provide Crucial Breakthrough To India
Siraj, though, was confident and was quite animated, which eventually convinced Shubman Gill to take the DRS, despite a lack of support from Dhruv Jurel, the wicketkeeper. The decision proved to be a masterstroke as the Ball Tracking displayed three reds, and the original decision of not out was overturned.

The decision to take the DRS on the insistence of Mohammed Siraj shows the immense trust Gill has in his pacer. Both of them play together for Gujarat Titans in IPL as well, and the Hyderabad pacer has been a workhorse for Shubman Gill in this five-match series, bowling long spells on good batting decks.
The wicket was also a crucial one for India as England's openers' onslaught in the opening session of the day put them in a strong position at the Oval. Pope scored 22, and India need Siraj to strike regularly and bring India back in the game.
