Shivam Mavi was the star of India's victorious U19 World Cup campaign in 2018 and was touted as the next big thing. He was known for his raw pace and ability to move the ball at that speed, but injuries and indifferent performances have halted his progress, and though he has played six T20I matches for India, he has almost become a forgotten star now.

He recently went unsold in IPL 2025 Mega Auction which is a big blow for him as he is just 26 years old and is a quality cricketer who can deliver with the ball and is a handy batter too. Now, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali clash between Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, Shivam Mavi turned on his beast batting mode and slammed 45 off just 15 balls on a pitch where some big batters like Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana and Sameer Rizvi could not get going.

Mavi is a long-time friend of Shubman Gill and has played with him at the U19 level as well for the Indian team. The two were together in KKR and GT as well, but Mavi somehow has fallen off the radar.

Shivam Mavi's Whirlwind Cameo Takes UP To A Competitive Total

Mavi's knock of 45 took UP to a competitive total of 157, and it shows how useful he can be in the shortest format with his all-round skills. This is his highest T20 score, and it seems that the man is eager to show his potential after being ignored by IPL franchises. The fact that his base price was just 75 Lakhs and he still was not picked, speaks a lot about how he fallen down in the pecking order.

Earlier, Nitish Rana fell for a golden duck while Rinku Singh could only manage 24 off 31 balls. The hard-hitting Sameer Rizvi stayed unbeaten on 25 off 26 balls, but it was Mavi who changed the complexion of the game with his power-hitting.
