Shubman Gill is now the Test captain of India, and at the age of just 25, he is already among the top batters in world cricket. The cricketer has shown great consistency across formats in the last few years and now has reached 6000 international runs in the second innings of the Oval Test against England.

He could not get big scores in both the innings of this Test, but the young leader has been in superb form in his first series as a Test captain. He has scored four hundreds, which include a daddy double-century too. Thus, with 754 runs in the series so far, he has managed to reach 6000 from 5000 in just 15 innings.

Shubman Gill's Consistency Lifts Him To Higher International Heights

Overall, Shubman Gill has played 113 international matches and has scored his 6000 runs in just 145 innings. His average across formats is 46.51 and he has a total of 18 hundreds at the international level. He has scored 2647 in Test cricket and has 9 centuries in it. However, Gill has been most consistent in the ODI format and has scored 2775 runs in just 55 innings at an average of 59.04.

Gill also has a hundred in T20Is and is one of the few Indian cricketers to score a ton in all three formats. He made his international debut in 2019, and 6000 runs at an age of just 25 speaks a lot about his talent and consistency.

The ongoing five-match Test series against England has also proved to be a huge success for Gill. He has broken plenty of records, and now in the second innings of the Oval Test, he has gone past Graham Gooch in terms of runs scored in a Test series between the two sides in England.

Most runs between India and England in a Test series in England:

754* - Shubman Gill, 2025, This Series*

752 - Graham Gooch, 1990

737 - Joe Root, 2021-22

615 - Michael Vaughan, 2002

602 - Rahul Dravid, 2002

Thus, Gill has led from the front in his first Test series as a captain so far and would be hoping that his team wins the final match as well.
