Team India is marching on to make it nine on nine in the World Cup 2023 before the Rohit Sharma-led unit faces New Zealand in the semifinal in Mumbai on Wednesday. On Sunday, at the batting paradise, the Indian skipper won the toss to bat first when all top four batters smacked their individual half-centuries.

Batting at Number 4, Shreyas Iyer smacked his third consecutive fifty and fourth in the tournament - helping the Men in Blue become the first side to have top four batters slam 50+ scores in a World Cup tie.

Iyer, who came out after Rohit Sharma's dismissal, stitched an exemplary partnership of 71 runs off just 67 balls alongside Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, the middle-order batter is currently India's third-highest run-getter in this event, after his captain Rohit (503 runs) and Kohli (594).

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old, yet to slam a century in World Cups, has a perfect opportunity to get to the special three-figure mark on batting-friendly conditions in Bengaluru against a relatively easier opposition.

Earlier in the tournament, the KKR captain smacked half-centuries against South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Nevertheless, India have notched up 250 runs on the board at Chinnaswamy after 36 overs. Shreyas Iyer is batting at an unbeaten 61 with KL Rahul on 17 at the time of writing.
