Shimron Hetmyer has long being considered as one of the most talented batters in the Caribbean. However, his international career off-late has been on the downward slide, and recently he could not live upto his standards for Rajasthan Royals in IPL.

Shimron Hetmyer Fails To Make An Impact In His ODI Comeback

The left-handed batter started off as an all-format player, but as his stocks increased in world cricket, he started focussing more on T20 format. However, in the shortest format too, his international career has got a hit. The batter though is trying to bring himself back into the fold in all formats, and is now playing ODI series for West Indies against England.

The comeback match though has not gone well for Shimron Hetmyer, as he departed on a single digit score when his team needed him to bat deep. The southpaw walked out to bat at number five with stage set for him to bat till the end and build on the foundation that was set by Brandon King and Kaecy Carty with a fifty and century respectively.

West Indies Lose Control In Middle Overs

Hetmyer tried to approach his innings cautiously, but a lovely flighted delivery from Adil Rashid on the last ball of the 37th over ended his stint. It was a delivery that pitched on off and the left-hander tried to defend it off the front foot. He missed the ball though and it hit his pad. The umpire raised the finger straightaway after the appeal, but Hetmyer took the DRS more in a hope than anything else.

The decision did not go on his favour, and the the original decision of OUT was confirmed.  Hetmyer's wicket triggered a collapse, and West Indies lost their way after a promising start. England won the first game comprehensively and Windies are on the back foot again in the second match.
