On Thursday, Bangladesh will take on New Zealand in the first ODI of the three-match series on home soil. The much-anticipated face-off will take place at the iconic Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.

The series holds significant importance for both teams, as it will be their final dress rehearsal for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. In the absence of Shakib Al Hasan and Kane Williamson, Litton Das and Lockie Ferguson will lead Bangladesh and New Zealand, respectively.

So, as both teams gear up for the contest, let's see how the pitch at the venue is expected to play throughout the game.

Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium Pitch Report

The surface at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur traditionally assists spinners, making it difficult for the batters to play strokes. The ball will stay slightly low and turn throughout the day; so, the batters must spend some time in the middle to put runs on the board.

Although the chasing sides have been more successful than teams who have batted first, we expect a slightly tired deck at the venue at this time of the year. So, batting might become significantly difficult during the latter half in the evening. Therefore, the toss-winning team might opt to bat first.
