Shardul Thakur Becomes 1st Purple Cap Holder Of IPL 2025 With His Best Spell Ever

Shardul Thakur, the veteran Indian bowling all-rounder initially was not supposed to play IPL 2025 as he went unsold in the mega auction. However, he did well in the domestic cricket that followed the auction and was roped in as replacement of Mohsin Khan by LSG, just before the start of the season.

It has proved to be a blessing in disguise for LSG so far as the pacer has bagged six wickets in two matches and has earned the first Purple cap of the season. Shardul Thakur picked two wickets in his first game of the season against Delhi Capitals, and has now produced his career-best figures in IPL against SRH by bagging a four-wicket haul.

Shardul Thakur has gone past Noor Ahmad with this performance who picked four wickets in the only game he has played so far in the season. In the game, Shardul Thakur did well both with the new ball and the old. He picked two big wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan on consecutive deliveries, and then came back at the backend to remove Abhinav Manohar and Mohammed Shami.
