Pakistan doused Bangladesh in a virtual semifinal to set a date with arch-rivals India for a blockbuster Asia Cup 2025 final this Sunday. Shaheen Afridi demonstrated his all-round excellence, while Haris Rauf decimated Bangladesh’s batting line-up in a low-scoring cracker.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the 17th match of the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 between Pakistan and Bangladesh, as it panned out at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Thursday, September 25.

Taskin Ahmed and co. restrict Pakistan to 135

Bangladesh bowlers towered over the Pakistani batting line-up, restricting the ‘Men in Green’ to just 135-8 in 20 overs. However, the Bangladeshis had limited Pakistan to just 47-4 at one stage around 10 overs before Mohammad Haris (31 off 23) and Mohammad Nawaz (25 off 15) unleashed brisk cameos at the death. Shaheen Afridi also smacked a couple of big sixes to break the shackles in his fiery 13-ball 19, while Faheem Ashraf guided Pakistan in the final two overs with his crucial 14*.

For Bangladesh, new ball paceman Taskin Ahmed picked up three wickets in the innings to claim figures of 3-28, even surpassing the 100-wicket threshold in T20Is in the process. Mahedi Hasan (2-28) and Rishad Hossain (2-18) chipped in with two wickets each to halt Pakistan’s gaining momentum at various junctures of the game. Mustafizur Rahman got rid of Pakistan captain Agha Salman, who scored a sluggish 19 off 23 balls at the crease.

Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf engulf Bangladesh

Pakistan paceman Shaheen Afridi plunged Bangladesh into early trouble with the wickets of Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy inside the powerplay overs. Opening batter Saif Hassan also failed to capitalize his start at 18 after his leading edge off Haris Rauf went straight towards Saim Ayub at backward point.

Spinners Mohammad Nawaz (1-14) and Ayub (2-16) picked up three wickets between them during the slog overs to further derail Bangladesh’s rising resistance. Shaheen Afridi added another wicket to his tally at the death to claim figures of 3-17, while Haris Rauf removed Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Taskin Ahmed in the space of three deliveries before sending down a tight final over to restrict Bangladesh to 124-9. Pakistan ended up securing an 11-run win to qualify for the 2025 Asia Cup final.
