SA vs IND 2nd ODI | Playing 11 Prediction, Cricket Tips, Preview & Live Streaming

South Africa aim to square up the three-match ODI series against India via a much-needed victory in the second game in Gqeberha on Tuesday (December 19).

The Proteas suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the tourists in the series opener in Jo'burg and would be desperate to level up the rubber to ensure Men in Blue can't script a historic triumph.

India have a great opportunity at hands to take an unassailable lead and pull off only the nation's second ODI series win on South African soil. A remarkable 5-1 series win during the 2018 trip remains India's only series win in the rainbow nation for now.

South Africa

The Proteas were left shell-shocked by India's young pacers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan in the first match and collapsed to a horrific 116 all out in the first half.

Having batted first after recognising it as a dry pitch, also used for the third T20I, the hosts succumbed in their special 'Pink ODI' outing versus an inexperienced but spirited Indian side.

The fixture exposed their soft underbelly against the moving ball as Arshdeep got the ball to move in late into their batters while Mukesh did them in with a hint of uneven bounce and seam off the deck.

It will be a cause of great concern for the home side as they approach a must-win encounter in Gqeberha, another venue known for its late movement and spongy bounce which makes life tough for batters.

India

India would've delighted to see their backup pace battery rise up to the challenge and draw first-blood in the series. After facing criticism for his persistent failures in T20Is, Arshdeep relished the One-Day setting and trusted his stock ball, the inswinger, to produce the magic early on.

The youngster ruffled the feathers of the Proteas top-order and took the first four wickets before finishing off the proceedings with his maiden five-fer in international cricket.

It was, however, Avesh, who turned the initial stutters into a full-blown collapse for the hosts with his fantastic burst that ran through the middle order. Another of India's talented but inexperienced quicks, the right-arm seamer ended with figures of 4 for 27.

While the chase wasn't one to fuss over, Indians would've been extremely happy with the first look of young opener Sai Sudharsan as the elegant left-hander produced a terrific half-century during the second half.

India would go in with only one forced change in the line-up as middle-order stalwart Shreyas Iyer's departure following the opening One-Dayer to train with the Test squad gives young Rajat Patidar a potential maiden cap in the coming game.

SA vs IND: Gqeberha Pitch Report

In a D/N One-Day International, the pitch at the St George's Park in Gqeberha could play similar to the one at the same venue during the T20I series, which played dry with hint of spongy bounce in the first half but latter turned into a batters' paradise due to heavy dew under lights. A same sort of surface could make the toss a huge factor in the contest as the team winning it would want to be bowling first to give their attack the best chance and be chasing a target.

SA vs IND: Winner Prediction

India have the momentum and the confidence behind them heading into this game against a South African side whose flaws they exposed brutally in the last match. The tourists could once again prove too tough to handle for the hosts in Gqeberha.
