Sai Sudharsan wore a jubilant outlook as he fulfilled his heartfelt desire to wear the India jersey and produced a memorable half-century in the opening game of the three-match ODI series against South Africa in Johannesburg on Sunday (December 17).

The rising young prodigy from Tamil Nadu opened the innings for India and exhibited his full range at the crease towards an unbeaten 55 off just 43 deliveries, including nine fours.

Using his tall stature and long reach to significant effect, the left-hander handled the Proteas pacers and spinners with command and helped India race to an eight-wicket victory, chasing a paltry 117.

Forging a rapid leap within the Indian set-up after dominating his way to an impressive record in all formats for Tamil Nadu and India 'A', Sudharsan rallied on the wave and seamlessly adjusted to his first challenge at the international stage.

The youngster had worked extensively hard on his game leading into the South African tour as he prepared with the spongy tennis ball in the nets for a while and even took part in India A's first four-day game of the ongoing series prior to the Jo'burg One-Dayer to get used to the conditions.

Moments after completing an excellent debut for India, the Gujarat Titans (GT) top-order batter took to Twitter to open up his heart and reveal immediate feelings. The cricketer felt "blessed" to wear the Indian colours and said it's a sign for other aspiring youngsters to continue believing that their dreams will come true.

"Growing up as a small kid like everybody, I also dreamt of playing for the country. So with hard work and grit, dreams do come true. Blessed to represent the country and contribute for the team. Looking forward to lots of memories," Sudharsan tweeted.

Sudharsan's debut would've been a proud moment for Tamil Nadu cricket as the son of the soil swiftly transformed into an international player for India after giving his heart and sweat to the domestic game over the past four years.
