Rohit Sharma's Captaincy Exposed In 3rd Test As India's Travis 'Headache' Issue Continous

Rohit Sharma is a brilliant captain in white-ball cricket but he surely has lacked the cutting-edge to lead India's Test team, and it was evident on Day 2 of the Gabba Test match against the Australian team.

Indian bowler did well to churn out three quick wickets in the morning session as the Aussies were pushed on the back-foot, but then the real deal took place as Travis Head, or the 'headache' for the Indian side continued his dream run against Rohit Sharma's team and scored yet another fifty.

The bowlers and the Indian captain allowed Head to score runs freely and it allowed the Aussie to run away from the jail. During Head's quick-fire knock, Rohit Sharma's captaincy also came under scrutiny and here's why.

Not putting pressure on Head when he came to bat

The whole world knows that Head has a short-ball weakness, and as a result, there should have been a short leg, or a leg gully in place, in case Head miscues one of his shots. But to everyone's surprise, Head had acres of spaces to find the gaps as he found the gaps at regular intervals and was never at strike for too long.

There were no close in fielders to put pressure on the Aussie batter as he scored runs freely without taking any risk. Plus, when the bowlers got it wrong with their lines and lengths, Rohit never instructed them to bang it short and try and hurry Head with short-pitched deliveries.

Should have brought Jaddu early in the innings

When Bumrah picked up two quick wickets of Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja, Rohit should have brought in Ravindra Jadeja to counter the two right-handers - Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith. Instead, he brought in Nitish Kumar Reddy in the attack.

The all-rounder did got the breakthrough by dismissing Labuschagne, but Smith found it easy against him. A quality left-arm spinner in Jadeja would have caused trouble to Smith and now the Aussie batter is well settled and is closing in on a fifty.
