In the latest setback for the Indian side, ace pacer, Mohammed Siraj got injured on Day 2 of the Gabba Test match and walked off the field as India sweat hard on his fitness. Siraj, over the years has been massively overused in Tests and it seems the past demons came back to haunt the Indian side.
In his 11th over, Siraj hurt his left hamstring as he looked in some discomfort and was taken off the field as a precautionary measure. Akash Deep had to complete his over as Rohit Sharma and others were visibly disturbed with what transpired. Siraj, himself was distraught as he looked in some pain while going off the field.
Will Siraj play remainder of Gabba Test?
There is no confirmation on the extend of his injury, but a hamstring injury might take some time to heal and perhaps the Indian team doesn't want to take unnecessary risk. If the hamstring injury is a bit serious, the Indian pacer might actually be ruled out of the remainder of the match.
However, there is also a possibility that Mohammed Siraj might not bowl in the ongoing first innings and could directly come back in the second innings itself.
Head-Smith punishing India
Already a bowler short, India are lacking the cutting edge against Steve Smith and Travis Head. The team churned out three quick wickets in the morning, but since then, there has been no luck for the Indian bowlers.
Both the batters have added more than 50 runs for the fourth wicket and Head in particular has looked dangerous as he continued from where he left in Adelaide and has once again taken India to the cleaners.
