Indian captain Rohit Sharma flogged Pakistan bowlers to a point of submission with his scorching 86 in their latest World Cup 2023 showdown. The dashing opener launched boundaries and sixes at will against the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali as Team India romped through their run-chase task with almost 19 overs to spare.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra, known for his astute insights on the game, recently summed-up Sharma’s batting blitzkrieg in a hilarious manner. Taking to his YouTube channel, Chopra claimed that the Indian skipper batted in a manner as if he had opened up a laundry, and he treated Pakistan’s frontline bowlers as if they were pedestrian bowlers.

Aakash Chopra hails Rohit Sharma in a hilarious manner

A day after Team India routed Pakistan by seven wickets in Ahmedabad, former Test opener Aakash Chopra praised current skipper Rohit Sharma for unfurling yet another one of his run-chase masterclasses. The cricketer-turned-commentator claimed that Sharma made top Pakistan bowlers look like pedestrian bowlers through his effortless sixes in the match.

“Rohit Sharma batted as if he had opened a laundry. He was smashing sixes everywhere and that too against bowlers whom we respect. Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali - they are very decent bowlers. But Rohit Sharma made them look like pedestrian bowlers.”

Aakash Chopra also added that Rohit Sharma should have been adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’ instead of Jasprit Bumrah, despite the latter’s electric spell that orchestrated Pakistan’s colossal batting collapse. He stated:

“In my book, the player of the match is Rohit Sharma, absolutely. Outstanding knock.”

Sharma’s sublime 86 engineered India’s third successive win this tournament, and also extended their unbeaten World Cup run against arch-rivals Pakistan to 8-0.

Sharma will now lead Team India in their subsequent World Cup 2023 challenge against Bangladesh. Their much-awaited duel is slated to be played on October 19 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
