India's intense game against New Zealand ended in their favour as they clinched the match by a bare margin of 12 runs where more than 300 runs were scored by both teams. The game, however, would be remembered for an iconic feat achieved by opener Shubman Gill.

The young opener hammered an unbelievable double-hundred taking his side to a gigantic 349 in 50 overs. After the game ended in India's favour, skipper Rohit Sharma lauded the Punjab cricketer, mentioning that he has a lengthy career in front him.

"Shubman Gill is a classy batter. He is clear about his approach. He doesn't go aerially very often. He plays the shots really well along the ground. He has a big career ahead.

Moreover, he praised pacer Mohammed Siraj for his incredible spell of 4 for 46, bringing India back into the game during crucial junctures. Rohit mentioned that the right-armer has been given a clear plan which he is implementing pretty well.

"Siraj has been doing it for us for quite some time now. He is an improved bowler. He got us back in the match, bowling well in his final over to get a couple of wickets. He was brilliant. He is carrying out his plans and is very clear about them. That is exactly how it should be."

Rohit & Co. will be playing the second game of the series on 21st January in Raipur.
