IND vs NZ: Shubman Gill surpasses Sachin Tendulkar in twin batting milestones

In a significant turn of events, young Indian batter Shubman Gill has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's tally of 186 runs to record the highest individual ODI score by an Indian against New Zealand. 

The Punjab batter went bonkers against all the New Zealand bowlers to hammer a belligerent 149-ball 208, powering India to a mammoth total of 349 runs. He also broke Sachin's record for the highest individual ODI score at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Hyderabad

Gill, who has had a stellar success in ODI cricket since his debut, etched his name in history by becoming the youngest-ever batter to hammer a ODI double ton

In this process, he joined Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the 200-run club for India in ODIs.

The 23-year-old also completed 1000 ODI runs in only 19 innings, thereby overtaking Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to become the fastest Indian batter to achieve the milestone
