Mumbai Indians are five-time champions but they have been lately not able to replicate their stellar performances courtesy of some ordinary cricket and injuries to their big players. In the 35th game of IPL 2023, they suffered another huge defeat against GT which is their biggest defeat in terms of runs since the 2017 season.

Rohit Sharma talking after the match naturally was not pleased with his team's performance and defined it as very disappointing. He added that they had control of the game till 15 overs and the last few overs went for way too many runs. He mentions that they lacked in their execution and that cost them the game.

"That's really disappointing. We had pretty much control of the game till about 15 overs and then the last few overs went for way too many runs. Just about execution. We need to execute what's right on that pitch, who are the batsmen, that kind of a thing and we failed to do that which is why in the end they got way too many runs,"

Rohit said that every team has different strength and they have a good batting lineup and they back themselves with the bat. He also talked about the conditions and said that there was not much dew and they could have chased the target if they have batted well. He also added that they came close in the last game to chase down a big total but they did not have enough batters in the middle in this game in the last seven overs as they could not build partnerships.

"You gotta look at every team has different strength. We've got a very good batting lineup so we back ourselves to go out there and achieve that target. Today wasn't the day for us. We struggled from the start. We didn't get going. I can see there's lot of dew as well. If we would have batted well then probably you never know. We came pretty close last game to chase down 215 but we back ourselves and get those runs whatever is there on the board. You need to create that partnership, you need to bat as long as possible. The last 7 overs we didn't have as many batters batting in the middle there."

Mumbai Indians will now play their next game on Sunday, 30th of April against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
