On Wednesday, Barbados Royals edged past Guyana Amazon Warriors by three wickets in a thrilling final to clinch the Women's Carribean League trophy for this season. After restricting the Warriors to 136 in 20 overs, the Royals chased down the target successfully with three wickets and two balls to spare.

Captain Campbelle's quick-fire cameo propels Guyana to 136

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Barbados Royals didn't get early breakthroughs, but managed to keep their opponents under the pump with disciplined line and length. While Amy Hunter scored a sluggish 36-ball 29, Realeanna Grimmond took 18 deliveries to contribute just 17 runs to the total.

Veteran batter Stafanie Taylor was retired hurt for 15 runs, but Laura Harris (18 off 8) and skipper Shemaine Campbelle ensured the Warriors breached the 130-run mark, finishing their innings on 136 for three in 20 overs. South Africa's out-of-favour batter Dane van Niekerk also scored 27 runs off 26 balls with the help of two boundaries.

Courtney Webb shows resilience before Patil, Alleyne finish things off for Royals

In response, Barbados Royals had a steady start to their innings, with Chamari Athapaththu and keeper-batter Kycia Knight scoring 25 and 31 runs, respectively. Although Qiana Joseph and Chinelle Henry departed for single-digit scores, Courtney Webb kept the Royals alive in the run-chase with a stoic 31-run knock.

As the required run rate climbed to more than nine runs per over, Shreyanka Patil and Aaliyah Alleyne joined hands, forming a scintillating stand for the eighth wicket. Their commendable finishing act was the reason why Barbados Royals Women went past the finish line in the final over of their innings.

Patil, who represents RCB in the Women's Premier League, remained unbeaten on ten runs off six balls, while Alleyne struck a valuable nine-ball 17* with the help of a boundary and a six.
