In a stunning display of dominance, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) sealed their place in the IPL 2025 final with a thumping 8-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1 at Mullanpur on May 29.
Chasing a meagre 102-run target, RCB blazed past the finish line in just 10 overs. RCB clinched the victory with a staggering 60 balls remaining, the quickest-ever win by balls left in IPL playoff history.
Bengaluru Etches New Record with Sensational Chase
RCB's performance surpassed Kolkata Knight Riders’ 2024 demolition of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where they had 57 balls to spare in Chennai.

RCB’s new record is a testament to their bowling attack’s brilliance and their aggressive top-order batting, especially from Philip Salt, who remained unbeaten on 56 off 27 balls.
Bengaluru Demolishes Punjab
Punjab Kings, opting to bat first, collapsed for a below-par 101 in just 14.1 overs. The RCB bowling unit ran riot, Josh Hazlewood (3/21) and Suyash Sharma (3/17) led the destruction, with Yash Dayal and Romario Shepherd chipping in.
PBKS lost wickets at regular intervals, never recovering from the early blows delivered inside the powerplay. Marcus Stoinis was the top scorer with a quick 26 off 17, but lacked support as Punjab folded meekly.
In reply, RCB made a mockery of the chase. Philip Salt took charge, slamming an unbeaten 56, supported by cameos from Mayank Agarwal (19) and Rajat Patidar (15*). RCB raced to 106/2 in just 10 overs, not only booking their spot in the final but also setting a new IPL playoff benchmark for the most balls remaining in a victory.
