Colombo Stars secured a nine-wicket victory over Dambulla Aura in Match 14 of the Lanka Premier League 2022 on Wednesday at Pallekele. 

Dambulla Aura succumb to proficient Rajitha

Stars decision to bowl first went in their favour as proficient Kasun Rajitha blew away the top-order batters Lasith Croospulle (0), Shevon Daniel (0) and Tom Abell (0). Alongside him, Suranga Lakmal got the prized scalp in form of Bhanuka Rajapaksa (4). 


English batter Jordan Cox  (16) got off to a start but was soon cleaned up by Rajitha. Afterwards, the contributions of Dasun Shanaka (20) and Pramod Madushan (23) helped Dambulla to post a total of 89 on the board. Rajitha finished with figures of 5/22 in four overs. 

Colombo Stars continue their winning momentum

In response to the chase, Madhushan breached the defense of Niroshan Dickwella in the first ball of the innings. However, the in-form Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka were impressive to guide the team at a brisk rate. 

The duo added an an unbeaten 90-run stand with Chandimal (31*) and Asalanka (58*) to help Stars climb one spot to take the third position in the points table.
