Rahmanullah Gurbaz missed out on a great chance to slam his deserving maiden IPL century. The Afghan batter was well on the course to cross the three-figure mark, but was dismissed by his fellow international teammate, Noor Ahmed for a well-compiled 81.

In the ongoing IPL match between KKR and GT, Gurbaz was brought back in the playing XI in place of Jason Roy, who missed the match due to back spasm.

With Roy not available, Gurbaz took the opportunity with both hands and made the GT bowler pay with an array of shots that mesmerised the fans at the Eden Gardens.

He started the attack with two sixes to GT skipper Hardik Pandya and brought his best against fellow teammate, Rashid Khan. Having known Rashid through his time at the international level, Gurbaz went bonkers against the spinner and never allowed him to settle in.

Despite losing Narayan Jagadeesan and Shardul Thakur in quick successions, the Afghan batter never allowed GT bowlers to take control of the game as he slammed them for 5 fours and 7 huge sixes.

Just when he was nearing the historic landmark, his another teammate, Noor Ahmed bowled a full toss and Gurbaz miscued his flick and was caught at deep mid wicket for a sensational 81.

At the time of writing KKR are 156 for 6 inside 18 overs.
