Captain's Thoughts

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain): "Obviously, privileged. I'll try to be in my shoes and not be in Mahi bhai's shoes. I got to know about it a week before the tournament. But Mahi bhai had hinted about it last year.

Everyone is experienced. Unfortunately, we are missing out on Devon Conway and Matheesha Pathirana. But we have got the likes of Rachin, Mitchell and Fizz who will fit in nicely. It looks good for me. It looks hard enough and I don't think it will change over the course of the 40 overs. We have to see how it behaves. Four overseas are Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Mustafizur Rahman and Maheesh Theekshana. Sameer Rizvi will be making his debut tonight."

Faf du Plessis (Royal Challengers Bengaluru Captain): "We are gonna have a bat first. It looks like a good surface and conditions here are a bat first wicket. So, I think it will be a good scoring wicket.

Yeah, it's super special. I mean it's my first time back here in four years so it's great to see how the stadium looks. It's great to see the Chennai fans again but today I'm here with RCB and hopefully, we can turn over a very good Chennai team.  Yeah, the preparation has been good. I mean we've been in Bangalore so the facilities there have been good. But like anything, you have to adapt to every condition where you go around the country. That's what makes the IPL so exciting.
