The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is finally here, and in the second game of IPL 2024, we have Punjab Kings up against Delhi Capitals. This game will be played at the new home ground of PBKS - Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium at Mullanpur and it would be interesting to see how things unfold as both teams look to start IPL 2024 with a bang.

The home team, Punjab Kings would be hoping that the new stadium changes their fortunes as they have not been able to qualify for the playoffs since 2014. Shikhar Dhawan will lead the team yet again and he would be itching to stamp his legacy as a captain by creating history of Punjab.

Dhawan will open, and this time he has the experience of Jonny Bairstow alongside him. If they both live up to their billing, Punjab Kings would be assured of better season than last year. At number 3, it will be Prabhsimran Singh who showed glimpses of his talent last year with a century and few crucial knocks.

At 4, Atharva Taide can bat as he provides solidity and has quite a few shots in his book. The players to follow him will be Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran who are all power-hitters and the two Englishman can contribute with the ball as well.

Sam Curran, especially, would be looking to improve his bowling form and replicate some of his heroics of World Cup 2022 where he impressed one and all with his death-bowling. Rest of the bowling arsenal consists of Kagiso Rabada, Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar and Arshdeep Singh.

Chahar will be the specialist spinner but Harpreet Brar can also be included in the playing XI as an Impact player. Otherwise, Atharva Taide can also be used as Impact player when PBKS is batting.
