The stakes are high for both teams as they head into this match with playoff spots still up for grabs.
Peshawar Zalmi pocketed a 35-run victory over Lahore Qalandars in their last game of the ongoing season. They have all but confirmed their place in the playoffs with a big win over the Qalandars and will now be targeting a top-two finish with three matches still to play.
Teenage sensation Saim Ayub, who earned a promotion in the batting order, made a quickfire fifty, Babar Azam too stepped up with a well-measured half-century. Half-centuries from Saim and Babar along with a brisk cameo by Tom Kohler-Cadmore helped the team to cross the 200 mark.
The bowlers led by Wahab Riaz were professional to deny Lahore Qalandars a win on Tuesday afternoon. Strong performances from emerging young talents such as Saim Ayub and Arshad Iqbal is a good sign for Peshawar as they look to seal the playoff berth. A win against the defending champions and a strong team like Qalandars will boost the confidence of Babar's team.
A defeat against the Gladiators would leave them waiting longer to guarantee their spot in the top four.
The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Quetta Gladiators find themselves on the brink of elimination but they still have a very slim chance to reach the playoffs by overcoming an uphill task. Quetta are coming off the back of a convincing win over Karachi Kings.
In that game, opener Martin Guptill was the standout performer with the bat for Gladiators. He finished the match with the top score of 86 not out off 56 balls with the help of nine fours and four sixes.
Besides Guptill, skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed played a supporting act and scored 29 runs off 25 balls. In the batting department, the side will be relying on the likes of Martin Guptill, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Iftikhar Ahmed, Najibullah Zadran, and Umar Akmal to deliver the bulk of the runs. They have a good variety in their bowling department with the likes of Naseem Shah, Aimal Khan, Naveen Ul Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, and Dwaine Pretorius in their ranks.
For Gladiators the equation here is simple: a defeat against Peshawar Zalmi would eliminate them from playoff contention, but a win will keep them alive.

The wicket prepared for the Rawalpindi game will be excellent for batting. However, the quicks will also get some assistance early in the powerplay overs with the new ball.
