Pakistan mystery spinner Usman Tariq’s bowling action during the third and final T20I against South Africa has been questioned. The fans accused him of chucking but no action from the match officials sparked outrage on social media.
What happened in final T20I against South Africa?
In the 10th over of the South Africa innings, Usman Tariq was seen gaining extra spin unfairly while straightening his arm in an unusual manner. The fans posted a video on social media showing how Tariq straightened his arm more than the allowed limit before delivering the ball to Donovan Ferreira. He bowled a full toss on the leg side at 94.1 km/h. Ferreira ran quickly between the wickets to collect a couple of runs. But it was Tariq’s action that made it to the headlines.

This is 'chucking' and one could see it with naked eyes. I am amazed how Umpires allowed this chucker. Usman Tariq was reported for chucking in PSL. He was reportedly cleared after he went for his bowling action reset. He is still chucking.
@c_pradip2800
For that to happen, the on-field umpires should report it officially!

It's not throwing the ball instead of bowling. If this is justified as bowling then upcoming generation should start practicing throwing instead of bowling

It did not go unnoticed by the fans who were shocked to see no reaction from the match officials. The officials did not call it a no-ball which did not go well with the fans. The clips of Usman Tariq’s bowling style went viral on social media and fans started accusing him of “chucking”. They also called out International Cricket Council (ICC) demanding an action.
Tariq’s justification for his bowling action
Usman Tariq was first called out in March 2024 during Pakistan Super League. After three games of the tournament his action was suspected. Speaking to MYK Sports earlier, Tariq explained his arm structure and technique. He had said,
“I do have two elbows in my arm. My arm bends naturally. I have got this tested and cleared. Everyone feels I bend my arms and all that. My bent arm is a biological issue.”
Later he passed a Test at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and returned to bowling without any restrictions. When many started questioning and criticising him, some defended him arguing that biomechanical experts had already cleared his action.
@Waqaas1980s
That is not chucking. The arm is straight, at elevation of more than 90 degrees. Less than 90 (underarm). No elbow bent to generate strength from there. Strength on ball is being generated from shoulder rotation.
You need to learn what chucking is.

Usman Tariq has played only one T20I so far & a lot of people are already crying about his action, which he has cleared twice.
When Ashwin & Bumrah have been allowed to play for years, I don’t think you should be doubting anyone else’s action.

Meanwhile, Pakistan won the three match T20I series 2-1 against South Africa. They will meet for the ODI series next starting on November 4.
