Sri Lanka and Pakistan are set to face each other once again in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series during Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka 2026. This match will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla Cricket Stadium on Friday, January 9.

In the first match, Pakistan showed their strength and control as they defeated the hosts by six wickets. Sri Lanka managed to score only 129 runs, which proved to be too small a target. Pakistan chased it comfortably, thanks mainly to a solid half-century by Sahibzada Farhan.

As a result, Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the series after their convincing win on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka look for a win after a disappointing outing

On the other hand, Sri Lanka had a disappointing start to the series. Although their batters got starts, they failed to turn them into big scores. Janith Liyanage looked the most confident at the crease, but his effort alone was not enough to put pressure on the visitors.

Therefore, if Sri Lanka want to keep the series alive and prepare well for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 at home, they will need a much stronger performance in the second match.

As both teams prepare for this clash, let’s take a look at the head-to-head record between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have faced each other 25 times in T20Is so far, and Pakistan have clearly enjoyed the upper hand. With 15 wins compared to Sri Lanka’s 10, the Men in Green hold a strong advantage in the head-to-head record.

Moreover, Pakistan’s recent form further strengthens their position. After comfortably defeating Sri Lanka in the first T20I, they look confident and well-settled as a unit.
