The IPL started back in 2008 after India's memorable win in the inaugural T20 World Cup and what followed was a revolution, a tournament that has changed cricket forever. It all started with Brendon McCullum smashing a fantastic century in the first ever game of the IPL and after that the journey just kept on getting better.

We are now in the 16th edition of the IPL and the IPL caravan has reached its 1000th game. Yes, you read that right. The Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals game at the Wankhede Stadium was the 1000th game of the IPL and it surely turned out to be a game where history was rewritten with plenty of new records made and old records shattered.

It was the game where we saw Rajasthan Royals posting a mammoth total of 212 courtesy a brilliant 124 from Yashasvi Jaiswal off just 62 balls. It looked like the game is done and dusted when MI were struggling in the run-chase initially but SKY smashed a superb fifty and then Tim David absolutely unleashed himself with 45 off just 14 balls - smashing three consecutive sixes in the last over to seal the win for MI.

This huge successful run-chase meant that lot of records that were waiting to be shattered all these years were broken with class and swag on this memorable day.

Here is the list of records broken on this Super Sunday - The day when the 1000th match of the IPL Happened!

It was the first time in the history of IPL that we saw a 200-plus total chased successfully in the Wankhede Stadium and fittingly it is MI who have finally achieved this feat.

MI's successful run-chase of 213 is also the fourth highest-ever successful run-chase in IPL

Overall, in IPL, 19 centuries have come in the losing cause and 5 out of them have come against Mumbai Indians - The most against any team in the IPL.

This is also the second time, MI have chased a target of over 200. The first time it happened was in 2021 when Mumbai Indians chased down a target of 219 with four wickets in hand against CSK in Delhi.

It was also a double-header day and the first game was between CSK and PBKS. PBKS won that game on the last ball of the match, chasing a target of 201. So, it means that for the first time in the history of the IPL, four 200-plus totals have been recorded in a single day.

This was surely a day to remember for the IPL and cricketing fans around the globe. The excitement, the nervousness, the raw emotions that IPL brings out is what makes it the most popular and biggest T20 league in the world.
