In a dramatic turn of events on Monday, Hobart Hurricanes all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary was at the centre of one of the most astonishing moments of the BBL 2025-26 season, suffering a horrific-looking shoulder injury before stunning everyone by later walking out to bat.

The incident occurred on the very first ball of the ninth over, bowled by Rishad Hossain to Oliver Peake. Peake clubbed the delivery for a powerful six, sending Chaudhary sprinting to his left from long-on.

Attempting an overhead catch with both hands, Chaudhary could only push the ball over the ropes. What followed immediately raised alarm bells in the Hobart Hurricanes' camp.

Landing awkwardly near the boundary, Chaudary fell heavily and remained on the ground holding his shoulder in visible pain. The Hurricanes fielders quickly surrounded him as physios rushed out.
