The West Indies have had a horrendous start against New Zealand in Match 26 at the Brian Lara Stadium in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday. The openers have failed to perform and gain momentum as New Zealand bowlers have outplayed them completely.

Trent Boult started the wicket carnage for the Black Caps as he scalped the first wicket in the first over itself shaking things up for the Caribbean.

And then in the 6th over of the West Indies innings, Jimmy Neesham joined the party as he took the wicket of WI opener Brandon King.

In the 6th over, Brandon King struck a huge six but was dismissed on the very next delivery by Neesham. The Kiwis dominated the Windies in Tarouba. Neesham bowled a good length delivery at 133.1 kmph on the off-stump line. King, attempted to guide the ball to the third man with an open bat face and got an outside edge.

Devon Conway, the wicketkeeper, dived to his right to take a remarkable low catch. This wicket meant that half of the West Indies team was back in the pavilion by the start of the seventh over.

Brandon King Wicket!

New Zealand finds themselves in a perfect position as this is a must-win game for them to continue their stay to maintain a strong position to qualify for Super 8.

The NZ bowlers have provided them with a dream of a start as West Indies find themselves in a difficult position as they have lost 7 wickets already in 15 overs.

But Sherfane Rutherford's explosive knock of 68 runs in 39 balls brought Indies back to the game as they posted 149-9 in the allotted 20 overs.
