Mohammad Rizwan may have missed out with the bat in his team's comprehensive opening game victory over Karachi Kings but the Multan Sultans captain and experienced batter achieved a special milestone in his first outing of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.

Despite struggling his way to 11 off 12 balls in the Sultans' heavy win by 55 runs against the Kings, Rizwan managed to reach 2,000 runs in his longstanding PSL career, becoming only the fourth batter in the league's nine-year history to bag the coveted number.

Rizwan inched over the 2,000 run PSL mark with his second boundary of the very first over of Sultans' innings on Sunday (February 18) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Even though he was dismissed soon, the experienced head finished off the game with 2,007 runs in his PSL career.

Rizwan Achieves 2,000 Runs Milestone In PSL History

Rizwan's tally has been achieved over 72 matches in a career where he previously represented the Kings as well as the Lahore Qalandars. He averages 42.7 with a strike-rate of 128.32 as an anchor in the league and has made 16 half-centuries and a standalone hundred in Pakistan's premier domestic T20 competition.

The 31-year-old is fourth behind fellow Pakistan veterans Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Shoaib Malik in the overall list of PSL's highest run-makers.

The ever-consistent Babar, who now plays for Peshawar Zalmi after moving from Kings, is at the numero uno spot with 3,003 runs from 80 PSL matches. He is also the only PSL batter to reach 3,000 runs.

Behind Babar at the second slot is the aggressive Zaman, who has been integral to Qalandars since PSL's inception. The attacking left-hander has smashed 2,381 runs in 77 PSL games at a strike-rate surpassing 141.

At third in the list is Malik after compiling 2,135 runs in different roles over the years for the Kings, the Sultans and now the Zalmi franchise. Malik has achieved his tally in 82 games with a strike-rate of 130.18.
