The business end of the inaugural edition of the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 gets underway as Washington Freedom takes on MI New York in Eliminator on Friday. The high-voltage encounter will take place at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

The Moises Henriques-led club finished third in the MLC points table, notching up three wins and two losses. For Freedom, players such as Henriques, Matthew Short, Andries Gous, and Glenn Phillips have stood up in crucial times, contributing heavily with the bat across the five games. 

USA's Saurabh Netravalkar has been spearheading the bowling for the Washington-based side and has emerged as the leading wicket-taker (8). Akeal Hosein and Marco Jansen have also provided ample support to Netravalkar claiming 12 wickets between them. 


MI New York

MI New York's biggest concern heading into the knockout match is Kieron Pollard's fitness. Pollard, who injured himself in a match against Seattle Orcas has been one of their star performer this season. 

Most likely, Rashid Khan will take over the reins if the former Windies player does not take the field.  Khan has been a disappointment this season, with the bowling solely dependent on Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada. 

The batting has been taken care of by former West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran, who has stuck over 200 runs in the tournament. All-rounder Tim David is the second-best with 143 runs.
